Pay it Forward: Camp Courage
July’s Pay it Forward winner, Eileen Grover, received $500 for Camp Courage, a program that gives youth an opportunity to grieve in a safe, welcoming environment. Vivian O’Conner, a volunteer at Camp Courage who nominated Eileen, delivered the $500, courtesy of Mid Oregon Credit Union and Co Energy Propane. As Bob Shaw explains in the KTVZ Pay it Forward video, “Through the work of the counselors, and their sharing with other campers, these young people find new friendships and the lifetime tools to better deal with loss.”

Pay it Forward: Families & Communities Together
Tiffany Zeiler, Mid Oregon’s La Pine Lending Center Financial Services Representative, was there when Dee Ann Lewis became the latest Pay It Forward recipient for her work with FACT (Families and Communities Together) and the Giggles Learning Center. Tiffany is a parent of a Giggles’ student, and had this to say:
“The organization and program are very much needed in South County as our options for daycare are very limited. Having a safe, fun, educational place to take your child to during works hours is very important to parents and it’s nice that we have this option because of all the hard work that Dee Ann and all the volunteers from FACT put into it.”
KTVZ’s Travis Knudsen was there to film Terri Newcomb, board president of FACT, presenting Dee Ann with five $100 bills to support FACT. Click here to see the Pay It Forward segment online and to read the story.

Pay it Forward: Ken’s Bikes
Don Senecal has worked with Ken Cardwell at Redmond’s Jericho Road free meal program for a while, and has seen firsthand how Cardwell’s effort of repairing, rebuilding and donating bikes to the community has made a difference. Last year, 150 of those bikes were donated to needy youth, and 195 total went out to the community.
So Senecal nominated Cardwell for the KTVZ Pay It Forward program, and Cardwell was recognized as the winner of $500 by Travis Knudsen of KTVZ in a story that aired Tuesday, June 17th. Cardwell will use the money to expand his mission.
